How far to trust these numbers
Every app on this page, and this page itself, runs on one machine at home, on one home internet connection
and home power. If the internet or the power drops out, everything goes down together, this page included,
so you won't see that outage here while it's happening. The servers have a battery for short power cuts;
if the power stays off for 20 minutes, they shut down cleanly rather than run the battery flat.
The checks run on that same machine. While it's off, no checks run, and we count that time as down in the
uptime figures and the daily bars. Planned maintenance and short update windows aren't counted.
A small server in a Sydney data centre, outside our home, also checks this page and our home
connection every minute, so there's a record of an outage even when this machine can't see it. Its results
aren't part of the figures above.
